The inventor, Thomas Edison, was born in Milan, Ohio on the eleventh of February of 1847, the seventh and youngest son of Samuel Edison and Nancy Edison, and he and three siblings survived in early childhood . Thomas Edison grew up and spent his childhood with a brother and two sisters, his father Samuel Edison and traveled to the United States in 1837 to escape arrest, it was right because of publicly his revolution to rule the British when he was in his native Canada , and finally managed to settle down with his family in the city of Milan, and there opened his own on wood, which He succeeded so much.

Thomas Edison was known to be a curious child with many questions, and his questions related to the surrounding world, and his great curiosity led to his exposure to many problems in several situations, and by the year 1854 his family settled in Port Huron, located in the state of Michigan, and in the same year Thomas Addison fell ill with scarlet fever, This led to his gradual loss of hearing later Thomas Edison was eight years old when his family moved to Port Huron, and he went to school at this age, and he did not stay for long in school. His stay did not exceed only a few months, and the reason for this was that his teacher was bothered by his constant questions, and he called him "corrupt" ; So Addison felt offended and returned home, and he told his mother what happened to him, and his mother decided after that to take her son out of school, and proceeded to teach him at home herself, as his mother was a former teacher, and she began introducing him to the works of Shakespeare and Dickens, and introduced him to scientific books, and his father helped him with his encouragement To read such books, by giving him a penny after reading each book, and this encouraged Addison to read more and be aware of a large amount of information .

The scientific books read by Thomas Edison influenced the development of his thinking a lot, as he established his first laboratory in his parents' basement, as he saved many pennies to buy batteries, test tubes, and chemicals, and his mother encouraged him to do so, so she did not object to his establishment of the laboratory, even if a simple explosion occurred in it Or, some chemicals leaked from him, and Edison's experiments did not stop at that time, as he began to create with his close friend a special system called Belgrave, and this experiment was a continuation of Samuel Morse's invention in 1832, and they did not achieve success in the first time, nor the second, as they tried several attempts Until they finally achieved success by sending and receiving signals and messages on the device, and when there were railways in the port of Huron in 1859, Thomas Edison asked his parents to allow him to work there, and he was 12 years old at the time, and he worked as a train boy selling newspapers to passengers, and Addison requested From his manager at work to allow him to set up a laboratory in the baggage car to make use of his spare time, and he did not The laboratory is left behind for a long time due to the accidental fire in the baggage car due to a phosphorus tube falling on the ground.

In the early years of the Civil War in 1861, Thomas Edison began to become a businessman, as his business spread, and Edison bought newspapers carrying war news, obtained the exclusive right to sell those newspapers, cooperated with his partners, and established a weekly newsletter known as "Grand Herald Track", and did his simple work. This led to his launching of many pioneering projects, thus he was able to establish 14 companies, including "General Electric"  .

Thomas Edison was at the age of 21 when he obtained his first patent, and his inventions from Addison can be divided into 8 basic categories, namely; Telegraph and telephone, phonograph and sound recording, batteries and light bulbs, moving pictures, cement and mining, and here is a review of some of their types: 

• Kinetophone 1888-1890 : In cooperation with William Dickson, Edison invented the first motion picture photographer to use in watching a short movie, by recording it with the camera and converting motion pictures into what is known as a "Kinetograph" afterwards. The light bulb / light bulb 1879 is Edison's most famous invention. 

• Carbon Microphone 1878-2877 : Edison invented the microphone that transforms the phone from a device to a device with real practical applications, knowing that Alexander Graham Bell was the one who invented the phone. 

• 1901 Nickel Iron Batteries : The environment had a great benefit from the nickel-iron batteries that Edison improved, and over time they used lead-acid batteries.

•  Brockton Breakthrough 1883 : After being hired in the small town of Brockton, he built the first three wires of electrical power plants; To generate electrical energy that is safer and more efficient than gas energy. 

• Phonograph 1877 : Thomas Edison was awarded the title of "Menlo Park" magician in November 1877; Because he invented the first method in the world to record and play back sound, and the phonograph is to use audible sounds of metallic paraffin with the aim of recording and reproducing it on the cylinder, and he was able to make multiple versions over the years with the aim of improving each model.

•  Alkaline Battery : During testing and experimental procedures with an iron-nickel battery, Addison discovered a strong solution that he used to produce a long-lasting battery. 

• Generator : This design consists of a motor assisting in controlling the electricity supply between devices, and this concept combines many of its accomplishments, such as a lamp, and an electrical lighting system was designed in order to maintain the same amount of electricity in the device. 

• Cement : Edison improved the manufacture of existing cement, especially using the rotary kiln.

Addison Awards

Addison's inventions and achievements had a significant and clear impact in the service of mankind, so he won several awards, honors and titles; As an appreciation of his years of efforts and achievements, including: 

• Grammy Technology Award; He was chosen to be a member of the National Academy of Sciences. 

• The Matwishi Medal and the John Scott Medal presented to him from the Philadelphia Council. 

• The major music awards bore his name in the Netherlands

Addison's personal life and death

Thomas Edison married Mary Stillwell, when she was sixteen years old, and their marriage lasted thirteen years, and she bore him three children, and they were; Marion, Thomas, and William, and Addison belonged to a family of Christianity, and the great inventor who changed the world died on the eighteenth of October of 1931, and he was 84 years old, and he was sick with diabetes , and in his honor, companies and institutions in all parts of the world turned off the lights for a period of time Little time to express thanks for his invention, and for the efforts he has made to humanity .
